The Great Lakes Loons got plenty of offense Wednesday and then Dow Diamond got plenty of rain as the Loons took care of the Swing of the Quad Cities by a score of 10-4.

Carlos Santana and Matt Berezay each had a homer and three RBIs while centerfielder Trayvon Robinson broke almost a year-long homerless streak with a two-run shot in the sixth.

Steven Johnson started for the Loons and worked 3.2 innings but reliever David Pfeiffer picked up the win with three innings out of the pen.

Tyler Herron (8-5) pitched five innings for the Swing and gave up seven runs while striking out nine as he picked up his fifth loss of the season. Former Central Michigan University alum Jason Cairns came on in relief and struggled, allowing three runs in one inning of work.

The game was eventually called in the top of the seventh inning thanks to a sudden thunderstorm over Midland. The start of the game itself was delayed for close to 20 minutes because of inclement weather.

The series continues Thursday night when highly touted left-hander Clayton Kershaw gets the start for Great Lakes against 2007 first-round draft pick Clayton Mortensen. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
